About our Department

Biochemistry is the common language of all life sciences. Biochemistry explains the molecular basis of life and therefore the knowledge of Biochemistry is mandatory in understanding the fundamentals of modern medicine. Application of Biochemistry to medicine in diagnosis, prognosis and treatment is a regular feature of Clinical Practice. The Biochemistry Department is involved in quality undergraduate teaching as well as patient care through its Clinical Laboratory.

Departmental Focus

The MMCH clinical biochemistry is a fully automated computerized lab, which function 24 hours a day with emphasis on accuracy, precision reproducibility and prompt reporting. It is a well-equipped laboratory capable of providing a complete range of investigations in the areas of clinical chemistry. Our external quality program is affiliated to CMC Vellore EQAS Program.

As a clinical testing laboratory with a vision to provide quality diagnostic services at affordable rates, our test menu is a carefully crafted list of investigations catering as much to the sick as well to preventive care. We have a varied test menu covering neonatal screening to hormonal imbalance, nutritional deficiencies and tracking lifestyle disorders and routine analysis. Our team of qualified faculty and staff are available round the clock to validate and report the results.

3rd November 2018, Saturday

Dear Colleagues,
Greetings from Calicut. It gives us immense pleasure to invite you for ONCOSCIENCE' 18, a one day CME jointly organized by Departments of Biochemistry and Microbiology MMCH & RC Calicut.
Awareness of cancer is increasing rapidly with predicted 19.3 million cases yearly by 2025 according to WHO. A key to the cancer management is the in-depth insight into the pathogenesis and its utility for achieving early diagnosis for better prognosis. This CME aims to enlighten our current understanding on cancer management from the perspective of supporting basic sciences. We look forward to your valuable participation in making this program a great success.
