Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), also known as physiatry, help restore movement and function to people disabled by disease or injury. Physiatry provides integrated, multidisciplinary care aimed at recovery of the whole person. Our physiatrists aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life. Physiatrists, treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons. The goal of rehabilitation therapy is to teach people how to take care of themselves as much as possible. The focus is often on daily tasks such as eating, bathing, using the bathroom and moving from a wheelchair to a bed. The treatment is designed to meet each person's specific needs; therefore, each program is different.
