Seminar on Stem cells & Regenerative Medicine, conducted by Malabar Medical College was inaugurated by Chairman Mr.Anilkumar V yesterday at Kozhikode.

Sree Anjaneya Dental College Principal Dr. Sunil explained about the practices and procedures involved. Dr.Anil Kumar, Scientist and In Charge of Tissue Culture and Biomedical Technicnology at Sree Chithira Thirunal Institute, Trivandrum presented paper on Promises and Challenges in Bio Fabrication of Tissues.

Dr. Manikandan Ramanathan, professor at Meenakshi Ammal Dental College, Chennai delivered lecture on Applications of Biomaterials Oral & Maxillofacial Region. Stem cells and Regenerative Medicine is the modern medical science of developing Live Organs from Stem Cells in labora-tories. The Medical Technology is expected to be savior of Man kind in saving them from many diseases in the coming years.

Renovated Radio Diagnosis Department inaugurated.

14th August 2018

The renovated Radio Diagnosis Department of Malabar Medical College was inaugurated by the Chairmans Mother Mrs. A Sarala.
Chairman Mr. Anilkumar V, Principal Dr. PV Narayanan, Vice Chairman Dr. Abraham Thomas, Medical superintendent Dr. Rajendra Babu joined in lighting the lamp.
The renovated department is equipped with ultramodern ct and MRI Imaging Machines.
The equipments come with a patient friendly noise technology allowing the imaging of patients even with implants. The Ultra edge technology Imaging Machines are the first of their kind in Kozhikode and in Kerala. With the new technology products in the department, the radio diagnosis has become much more accurate and perfect.

Breast Feeding Week celebrated at Malabar Medical College

MCI to assess a proposal on bridge course for dentists that allows them to double up as general doctors

India's medical education regulator has agreed to consider a proposal by the Dental Council of India to introduce a bridge course for dentists that will allow them to double up as general physicians.
DCI has floated the proposal after being urged by a number of dentists and dental surgeons who are interested in pursuing course that make their qualification equivalent to MBBS doctors, its senior office bearers said.
"We have taken up the proposal to the Medical Council of India and are hoping for a positive outcome. If we get a green signal, we will design, along with MCI members, the course structure and detailed curriculum for the bridge course," said Jayakar Shetty, vice-president of the DCI.
Another functionary at the DCI insisted that the move, when it comes through, will mean benefit for both dentist and general doctor fraternities.

MMC Hospital Moved on to new Logo and Tag Line. The new Logo was unveiled by Chairman Mr. Anilkumar V in a glittering event organized in Malabar Medical College yesterday.
Mr. Anilkumar said that the renewal of Logo and Tag Line come a critical juncture in the growth course of MMC Hospital at a time when the organization is embracing the most modern changes in Health Care sector. Vice Chairman Dr. Abraham Thomas presided over the function. Principal Dr. PV Narayanan, Medical Director Dr. Baburaj also spoke on the occasion.
Mrs Sudha Anilkumar ( Secretary, Sree Anjaneya Medical Trust), Mr. Gopalankutty Master, Mr. M Mehboob Consumerfed Chairman, Mr. Nikesh Aravind (DCC Secretary) also were present on the occasion. Head of the Departments, Doctors and Staffs of MMC Hospital participated in the event.

Malabar Medical College revamped Website released.

MALABAR MEDICAL COLLEGE moved on to their new revamped website.
In tandem with the newly launched Logo and Timeline, the new website is created based on the blend of Blue, Grey and Light Grey colors with abundant of white in between them. The site highlights the new logo on the top right corner, with the Tagline embedded in it. The newly designed pages enables the user to glide through the pages with utmost easiness to read the details given inside, without strain. The website was revamped with the help of Leap InfoTech, Kozhikode.

Smoking Cessation Clinic at Malabar Medical College Inaugurated by Chairman Mr. Anilkumar V on 31st May, World No Tobacco Day. A public awareness program against the usage of Tobacco Products was also conducted as a Part of World No Tobacco Day Celebrations. Principal Dr.PV Narayanan, Pulmonology Department Head Dr. Ajith Bhaskar, Dr.Vishal, Dr. Durga Balagopal, Dr. Hariprasad and Medical students participated in the celebrations.

Malabar Medical College Medical Team at Kattippara landslide rehabilitation camp.

18th June 2018

Malabar Medical College Medical Team were in full swing action at the disaster struck Kattippara area of Kozhikode district. Thirteen people had lost their lives in the landslide occurred here due to heavy monsoon rain on 14th of June. Several people were injured and some people are still suspected to be missing.
Malabar Medical College Team were quick to reach the landslide site and the rehabilitation camp with medical and supporting facilities. The MMC Hospital Team camped at the site for three days providing medical aid to the victims. The team of doctors from General Surgery, Emergency Medicine and Ortho departments were headed by Dr. Haridasan. MMC Hospital constituted a special team at the landslide site, helping and overseeing the medical needs of the volunteers. A Mobile ICU equipped with latest medical attention facilities from Malabar Medical College also was made available to help those who were affected by the natural disaster. The Medical Team discussed about the situation with Mr. VM Sudheeran, former Kerala Health Minister & KPCC President, who was present on the site.

Dr. Abraham Thomas, the Pioneer of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in India joins Malabar Medical College

Dr. Abraham Thomas, the Pioneer of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in India joins our Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Department. Dr. Thomas Abraham has done the pioneering work in Plastic Surgery and in Micro vascular Surgery in India and was earlier heading the prestigious C.M.C Ludhiana. He was listed for pioneering the replant of the face, by American College of Surgeons in 100-year review

He has received as many as 25 prestigious awards, including Parman Patra by the Government of Punjab for distinguished service in 1990; Dr BC Roy National Award in medicine in the field of specialties in 2000; Punjab State Award for services from the Chief Minister, Punjab, on Republic Day in 2014, among others.

At a period when Punjab was going through the Green Revolution, the incidences of avulsions due to threshing machines were on rise, Dr Thomas made history by replanting the face of Sandeep Kaur, who got her scalp ripped off when her braid caught in the machine. Her panic-stricken parents brought her face in two pieces to the doctors. Dr. Thomas attached the arteries, veins and nerves successfully and almost the entire face and scalp survived. The girl had near complete recovery of the muscles of her face.

  • Director-Principal ofPondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences inPuducherry from January 2002 to March 2008.
  • Director of CMC Ludhiana since April 2008.
  • He has joined as the Head of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in our Medical College. His service will be available in MMC Hospital from 1-6-2018.

Our Gastroenterology & Intestinal Sciences is now headed by Dr. Varghese Thomas, who is acclaimed as the Doyen in Medical Gastroenterology. Dr Varghese Thomas has served as Professor & Head of Gastroenterology Dep. at Government Medical College & Hospital, Kozhikode, earlier.
